Notifications Challenge

Here’s a “shallow dive” into how to get a handle on an overwhelm of notifications that may be counter to your productivity as well as how to make sure only the relevant ones are seizing your attention. Side note: I love listening to a variety of podcasts and read multiple articles daily but have grown tired of everything being a “Deep Dive” so while I feel confident the following info will be useful, I refrain from saying the “DD” words as it’s becoming trite to me.

I think the purpose of Notifications is like having a personal assistant who reminds you or alerts you of important things as you’re Busy and may not remember to do or to look at something vital. What happens more often than not is our Notifications are out of control and are more like a litter of screaming hungry kittens crying for your attention. After a while, you start to ignore notifications to the point that you have no idea when you’re being notified of something important or not as well as which ones are current and which ones are days or weeks old. On yet another side one since I mentioned the “B-word,” not that one, one worse, “Busy.” Notifications can give you the feeling that you’re Busy but I’d say you’re better off substituting the B-word for the P-word.
